Liden & Denz celebrates 15 years in Russia

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Among the guests were members of the diplomatic community,
city officials, press and TV, corporate clients, many of our students
and most of our staff and teachers from both schools

The celebrations were preceded by a press conference devoted to a new
joint project of a Swiss Hospitality Academy in St.Petersburg which
should open in September 2008. The party was kicked off by one of
the company founders, Walter Denz, who looked back 15 years and
showed some interesting and amusing pictures from the school’s
archive. The keynote speech was delivered by Swiss Consul General Mr.
Urs Strausak, who reminded the audience of the long tradition of
Swiss going abroad to set up educational institutions.

The m/c for the celebrations was yet once again Stas Sokolov, who was
joined for a special award ceremony by Yana Alyoshina, centre
director of Liden & Denz St.Petersburg. The fantastic buffet dinner
was prepared by the Astoria’s executive chief Colin Flood, drinks
were flowing freely and everybody seemed to have a great time!

“EAQUALS admits first Russian school” – Language Travel Magazine

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

“Liden and Denz language school in St Petersburg, Russia, has become the first language school in the country to be accepted to join the European Association for Quality Language Services (Eaquals).”

“The school, which is already a member of the International Association of Language Centres (Ialc), plans to get its Moscow-based school inspected by Eaquals next year. Walter Denz at the school said that international inspection schemes such as Ialc and Eaquals are particularly important for schools in Russia. “In Russia we don’t have a national inspection scheme like, for instance, the British Council for the UK. It adds credibility to our quality claims and we need to convince agents that they can trust us. Any serious inspection has always a consultancy element in it. It is a very good idea that will help us to improve our services further.”

Visa procedure simplified!

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

This summer, new visa rules came into effect which have simplified the
invitation procedure for certain visitor categories. For us very
convenient is the fact that the new system provides a fast track for
students carrying a Schengen passport. After some initial hiccups,
the procedure seems now to work smoothly. We therefore feel it is the
right time to go public and explain what impact it has for students
wishing to study Russian at one of the Liden & Denz Language Centres.

Most importantly we are now able to issue invitation letters for
student visas ourselves. A student visa is valid for up to 3 moths
and can be prolonged for up to one year without leaving Russia. This
means that from now on we are able to accept long-term bookings at
short notice, providing the student accepts courier costs for the
invitation letter (faxed copies or scans will not do). This
simplified procedure applies only to passport holders from Schengen
countries!

Please contact our booking department for more information.

Liden & Denz joins EAQUALS

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Liden & Denz St.Petersburg is the first language centre in Russia ever to have passed the rigorous EAQUALS inspection, which differs from other quality management schemes because it (quoting EAQUALS) "covers not just processes and documentation but what happens in reality. The focus is on the school-in-action, the experience of the clients, not just the school-in-theory."

The EAQUALS accreditation adds credibility to our long standing quality assurance statements. This is important not only for potential students who are looking for guidelines how to choose the right school. The same applies for corporations training their Russia-bound expatriates and language travel agencies looking for a reliable partner.

Liden & Denz plans to have its Moscow operation inspected by EAQUALS in summer 2008. More information about all Liden & Denz accreditations and memberships can be found here. The EAQUALS website offers a wealth of information on quality management in the language teaching world.
